English Courses in Bath

Enroll in EF’s English courses in Bath and discover a place so historically, culturally and architecturally rich that UNESCO named the entire city a World Heritage Site.

Enroll in EF’s English courses in Bath and study in one of Great Britain’s most historic cities. Our modern language school, with its well-equipped facilities, is set among the city’s elegant Georgian architecture, just a short walk from the River Avon that cuts through the city center.

Bath is a university town and our students quickly blend in with their British counterparts studying at the historic City of Bath College. For first time visitors, the city seems as if it was peeled from the pages of a pre-Victorian novel, and students enrolled in our English courses in Bath walk down the same medieval streets that Jane Austen once strolled.

A History of Relaxation

The city of Bath has been a vacation destination for generations of aristocracy dating all the way back to AD 43. The city predictably takes its name from the extensive thermal bath complexes built by the Romans, many of which are still in use some 2,000 years later. EF students naturally find the rejuvenating baths irresistible, and in addition to spa outings they find time outside of their English courses to browse the shops tucked along the picturesque Pulteney Bridge, and indulge in fish-and-chip lunches at traditional British pubs.

During the Georgian period the English surrounded the existing Roman structures with their own architectural touch. Nestled into the rolling Somerset country side, you couldn’t dream up a city that looked and felt more quintessentially British. World-class shopping and a strong café culture are staples in Bath but the city will always be defined by the finest Roman architecture north of Italy. And, of course, its baths.
